ActionAID is looking for a new member to join their team as a TOR for Local Operations Support to International NGO Programme, Romania.

Purpose

• Based in Iași, the post holder provides practical support and facilitate the smooth running of the International NGO Programme Team in Romania setting up partnerships and activities for the Ukraine refugee response.
Key Tasks
• Logistical arrangements (obtaining supplies, booking suitable accommodation, travel etc.)
• Supporting translation
• Keeping team aware of local developments
• Contributing to the safety and security of the team
• Supporting local cultural awareness for the team
• Supporting record keeping and administration
• Support gathering communications material, such as interviews with refugees
• Supporting communications with various affiliates of the International NGO.
• Dealing with government institutions.

Profile 

• Previous experience of an administrative and/or logistics role.
• Fast learner, flexible attitude to what is required.
• Good interpersonal skills
• Someone with driving license (ability to drive) is preferred
• Fluent English and Romanian language. Additional language (Ukrainian) would be an asset.
• Able to work in a multinational setting, able to work as a part of a team
• Able to travel around the country without limitations and work at evenings and weekends, including the border areas.
• Sympathetic understanding of the refugee crisis and its development in Ukraine and Poland
• Flexible approach with ability to quickly assess and adapt to changed circumstances
• Works well under pressure
• Able to work in an anti-racist and anti-sexist manner and with people from different backgrounds.
• Commitment to women’s rights, and the rights of young people.
• Willingness to learn about women’s rights movements, young people’s movements, humanitarian system and etc.

The ideal candidate is probably a woman, as they will need to be able to engage on sensitive matters with female refugees. The candidate will be expected to do some online induction, including security training, as a part of their role.
The postholder will be managed by the Humanitarian Manager for Poland, Romania and Moldova but task management can be delegated to other members of the team.
Immediate start, three-month contract with possibility of extension.
